Vectorthis V4.4 has been online for about 7 months and it’s been performing great. In that time I’ve seen and done a lot of wordpress hacking to improve functionality, SEO and user interactivity and it’s about time I start implementing some of my tricks into my own site. I don’t plan on doing any heavy redesigning, just some quick realigning.

My primary focus is going to be on enhancing the site’s SEO performance, but while I’m in there I’d like to upgrade the tone of the web site. I don’t want to go all corporate and boring with it, but I’ve developed a lot as a designer, since this site was last updated, taking on a much more administrative role with my current position, and I want the site to reflect that. It’s hard to pitch yourself as a constantly growing designer when the first thing you see on the about page the first thing you see is "When I was 16 …".

This is your (the reader’s) chance to get involved! I’m putting the whole site up for critique. I’m performing a site-wide audit to bring the whole thing to a new level, so if you have any suggestions to where you think there’s room for improvement (adding/removing/moving certain content, adding any kind of interactive feature, etc), leave a message and I’ll try to work it into my reviews. Keep in mind I want to overhaul the content more than the interface.

Currently in the queue:

• Random featured project on home page
• Simple re-align of the project thumbnail page to incorporate a process overview
• Simple realign of the project view - getting hard to large numbers of slides
• Updating the about page / timeline to be more resume focused. People don’t care what I did at 16 anymore
• Restyling the tag cloud widget
• Pagination for the blog
• Social bookmarking options for blog posts
• Actually implementing the IE6 png fix I talked about

There’s probably more, but that’s enough to get started. Have at it.
